Here's a picture of Genie at her house on Christmas 2002. We asked her to play a bit on the piano. She protested that she remembered nothing at all and couldn't read any music. But just the same, she played many of the old standards she knows by heart. It was a very lovely concert.

Eugenia Millie Keathley Martin was quiet and thoughtful as a child. She loved to read and study. From an early age she had a talent for music, which she passed along to her children.

She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Hillsborough High School and attended Florida State University.

After World War II she married Wiley Martin and they moved to his home state, California. They have four children, nine grandchildren and two great-grand children.

Genie died on Nov 6, 2003. On Nov 18, 2003, the California State Senate adjourned in her memory.
